Here are a few observations from this weekend. I ran into some old friends and a few "friends" I wish I hadnt. I'm thinking that many of you have had some similar encounters with some of these guys:
Always late guy
This guy is notorious for being late.....and likes it. This is his bit. This is his claim to fame. Even on the most solemn occasions this guy will find a way to be late; thus putting all the attention on his tardiness instead of the event he should have been on time for. If by some miracle you lie to him about the time he should be there and he shows up "on time", rest assured that he is plotting and planning a way to be late to something else. Dealing with this guy is tricky, because you don't want to make a big deal about him being late all the time (sounding like a nagging woman), but it still needs to be addressed because it happens so frequently that its become a problem. His presence is generally required when planning trips or events, otherwise you wouldn't really care about him being late. Catch 22 I guess. If I keep writing about this guy, ill be late too.....
Wedding crasher guy
Yes. These people actually exist. They show up to weddings uninvited and make things uncomfortable by getting mad when told that they can't come in. I don't like to name drop but Nicola and Von had the unenviable task of telling these crashers that they couldn't get in. They did a great job and deserve kudos for their efforts. I just wonder how on earth you could take the time to get ready for a wedding that you weren't invited to. WHY??!! People never cease to amaze me. Since common sense isn’t so common, I guess I can see where they r coming from......well not really......
Invited guest becomes a liability guy
This is the guy you invite somewhere and end up wishing you didn't because off all the problems & irritations their presence brings. As a general rule of thumb, when ever I get invited somewhere I try to just go with the flow & not become a liability to those around me ; So no one can say "who invited this guy". And if they do say that, its more of a “why don’t we bring this guy around more often”, than anything else. I think you guys catch my drift on this one. Anyways, some people just do too much, and this guy is def one them. Inviting this guy somewhere gives you tired head, because his antics and lack of reasoning really make u question & second guess your own judgment [for inviting him]. It doesn't happen every time you hang out with him, but it happens just enough to where you have to think really hard about including him in future plans....
Blogger who notices the mundane guy
I guess this would be me. I spent a lot of time being pissed off at the aforementioned groups of people this weekend and I'm not really sure why. Why do I care about the inconsideration of others when it has no direct effect on me? I guess my observant nature won't let me turn a blind eye. In a perfect world, I really wish these people would have left their alter egos at home and just concentrated on the real reason we all came together this weekend. I should know this by now, but the world is far from perfect and I guess this is true of people too. Maybe this goes back to me expecting too much from people. I just can't accept saying "oh well, that's just how they are"..… I was listening to a speech the other day, by Randy Pausch; he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was recently told by his docotors that he doesnt have very long to live. Instead of spending his time "dying", hes decided to enjoy every minute he has left. These days he is going around the country doing a lecture series called the "Last Lecture". Given his circumstances this lecture is a refreshing take on life and how to truly live it to the fullest. (if you haven't seen it please click here, trust me you'll enjoy it.) Anyways, in the lecture he states:
"We all have people in our lives that do things your not gonna like, but what I've found is that no one is pure evil. If you wait long enough they will eventually show you their good side." You cant make them do it in a hurry, but u can be patient"
Anyone who knows me, knows that I don't have any [patience]! I guess I have something to work on for the new year.
Till next time....
